How does your studio reflect your style?
I work from home, and to be honest, sometimes I wish I had a studio… Instead, I have to divide my activities in various rooms in my city house, so I’m constantly running up and down 2x stairs (keeps me fit!) .
The most important room for my Etsy shop is the smallest one, I call it the machinery room, It has not only my sewing machine and the locker (serger?), I have to share it with the central heating and a kind of ventilation unit…
It’s also packed full of trims, fabrics, projects and tools. I kept it neutral as the fabrics I have are colored enough. It’s located on the 2d floor, next to the children’s room, and I use it mostly in the mornings when the children are at school.
It’s the room where the things get “done” sewing wise, with a very practical lay-out and I have everything on hand (except when I forget my scissors down stairs, there’s where the running begin!)
I also have my “favorite” office space (a proper office space!), where I am writing this for you right now, very modern, white and fresh, just how I like it! The office is shared with hubs, and we designed and made it ourselves (I am an interior designer by trade and he’s an architect with two right hands!) It has one feature wall, a macro photograph of a yellow mustard flower, filling the room with a sunny color.
What is the favorite part of your studio?
Now here I have to consider myself lucky, depending on the mood I am, or things I have to do, or if the children are home, I can shift and move from space to space as necessary…
Handwork is done downstairs, where the children are playing, or doing homework, and I think I enjoy that place the most, it means I am close with them and also that my handwork is almost done!
What pieces in your studio inspire you?
I always have a mood board wall in my office which changes with time. At the moment, because I’m not an English native speaker, describing colors is sometimes difficult, so now I have a little list of names/colors hanging there, just to inspire me.
Do you have any handmade or vintage décor pieces?
My children’s creations are the most treasured ones, I also have a colorful woolen handmade throw made by mapuche-indians which I love, it reminds me at home.
What is favorite color palette and how did you implement this in your space?
I love different colors, white as base, clean, neutral, bright and fresh, but yellow is a color my husband and I agreed on, it has different esthetics throughout our home (modern and bright in the office, retro on the staircase wall, luxurious and zesty in the master bedroom)

I treasure my sewing machine. It’s one of the first things my mum bought when we arrived in Holland (I’m Argentinean by birth) Sadly she died a year later, so the sewing machine has a lot of value for me.
What are the books or magazines that inspire you?
I love interior decorating magazines in general, architecture books (love Japanese architects) but I also enjoy gardening books a lot.
I also spent a lot of time on the net, reading and looking in blogs and pinning: http://pinterest.com/redstitch
What changes/upgrades would you like to make in the future?
I love working from home, so an extension to make a studio would be great, or even better, to design and build our dream home …
