Spring and Easter Decoration Ideas for the Home

When it comes to making seasonal decorations, I like to use vintage items I find at flea markets or whatever I have around my house. Today I wanted to present a project idea which is easy to make and can be used for your  Easter table decor as a centerpiece.

Every spring I plant bulbs and I like to use various containers like porcelain vegetable dishes, vintage tin containers or apothecary glass jars..

Some of my favorite spring-blooming bulbs are hyacinths, tulips and  daffodils.  Unless I plan this ahead and plant the bulbs in autumn or early winter,  I buy the potted plants from a garden center or nursery and transfer them in the containers I have.  This is the quickest way to make this beautiful table centerpiece.

French Country Kitchen Decorating Ideas

French Country Kitchens are designed using an elegant mix of rustic, antique, floral and decorative elements.
For the wall color, the most commonly used are faux earthy finishes, mellow tones of yellow, beige or robin egg blue.

The kitchen cabinets can be  white or have distressed finish. Having glass door kitchen cabinets is a good idea, as you can display your china, glasses or vintage serving pieces.

While white appliances go well with the white cabinets, the stainless steel ones can add a modern note to the space.

Marble countertops can add a luxurious touch. Also, the butcher block, white laminate or quartz would look amazing.


For the kitchen island, you can use a vintage farm table as an affordable solution.

An antique chandelier would look amazing in a french country kitchen. If you purchase a new one, you can easily give it an antique finish.


As decorations, use copper molds, vintage ceramic roosters, ironstone pitchers filled with flower bouquets and brass candle holders.

Aqua Blue Home Decor Ideas

Aqua is one of the top interior design colors of 2012 and one of my favorite.

This color looks great especially in a living room,  bedroom or bathroom and associated with cool neutrals like white or grey.

Aqua Shell 2 - Glass Coat from Z Gallerie

Aqua and Turquoise remind me of the ocean and for many years I have collected sea shells and corals in the hope that one day I will use them to create a nautical inspired room. After we purchased our house, my initial plan was use aquamarine as the accent color for one of the guest bedrooms.

However, after much thinking, I decided to use it for our living room. I plan to get a large abstract painting and several vases in this color and mix them with the seashells and coral.

Instead of using a large piece of art, using aqua for an accent wall is a great idea especially with a stencil.

Contemporary Lighting

I am remodeling my new house and for the past couple of weeks I was looking for contemporary lighting and I found a few interesting items.
My favorite is the Modern Drumshade Chandelier from George Kovacs: http://www.georgekovacs.com/.
This piece would look great in my dining room!

Shabby Chic Cottage Style
