Grey and Black Contemporary Glam Kitchen Design

Kitchen styling ideas and tips Grey Gray Black White Kitchen Modern Contemporary Home Decorating Ideas Kitchen Inspiration Board Arizona Phoenix Scottsdale Interior Design stainless steel black kitchen cabinets kraft maid quatz countertops Mosaic Tile backsplash Art island Color Palette Stylish Low Budget Style Affordable Hollywood Regency
I am very excited to offer you a sneak peek of my kitchen. They are only a few things to be done and soon it should be complete.
When it comes to interior design, I like the contemporary style...mixed with Hollywood Regency and this is what I wanted to create when designing my house.
The main color palette is dark grey for the flooring - we used 12 X 24 rectangular tiles, stainless steel appliances, light grey for the walls and kitchen countertops - Nieble Silestone Quatz, modern KraftMaid black cabinets, round kitchen table and white for the baseboards and upholstered chairs.
The mosaic rectangular tile backsplash encompasses all four neutrals. For a touch of 1920's glam, I used this crystal chandelier  I found on Overstock.
I am sure many of you recognized the  Ranunculus photograph by Jessica Nichols. The ethereal colors and composition of this piece made me fall in love with it. I needed art to bring colors into this space and this was perfect. Also, the yellows and pink mix beautifully with grey. I got this photograph in a large format: 16 X 24 inches and a modern black frame for it.

Please let me know what you think about my kitchen and what is your style?

Thank you,

Ali

Luxurious Modern Bathrooms

Grey Gray Spa Hotel Mosaic Rectangular 12 X 24 12X24 Tile Master Bathroom Remodeling Decor Decorating Ideas Interior Design Steam Room Rain Shower Glass Simple High End Black White Storage rectangular porcelain 1/16 grout line

These are a few of my favorite bathrooms.
The one on top was designed by Candice Olson. Like most of her designs, this space is modern and fabulous at the same time. She used mosaic tile for the walls and mixed it with dark grey square and rectangular porcelain tile for the flooring.
The vanity is simple and in order to maximize storage, containers were placed under the sinks. The rain shower / steam room make this bathroom exceptional.

The bathroom below has a Hollywood Regency glamorous design. Jenn Feldman is the talented designer of this space. In my opinion, this would be the perfect guest bathroom. I like the wallpaper in this metallic grayish blue. A good idea would be to use the decorative wall stencils if you are on budget.
The mirrored vanity adds a vintage vibe and the sunburst mirror is not only functional but works as wall art.

I love the light grey wall color used in this contemporary bathroom. It gives it a spa feel. However, the luxurious bathtub is the star of this space.
In order to make the space seem even bigger, 24 X 24 inch dark grey tile was used for the flooring. The black vanity has simple lines and offers plenty of storage. The contemporary style is so minimalistic it can seem cold, however, adding glamorous elements like this crystal chandelier is balancing the design nicely.

Kosta Clear Glass Vase Contemporary Decorating Ideas Art Livingroom Living room Bedroom Modern Contemporary

I am looking for glass vases for my living room and I found several vintage pieces that would go well with the contemporary decor

I would like to use glass in order to add punches of color to the space. However, I fell in love with a few neutral pieces like these two Kosta clear vases.

New Beginnings

First of all, I want to wish you all a great year! I hope all your dreams and hopes will come true.
The reason why I did not blog in such a long time is because I have been busy remodeling my house. After many years of just dreaming about it, I was able to finally do it! However, since we had many DIY projects, there were many mistakes made and I can say that it hasn't been an easy experience, but we learned a lot.
I love the contemporary style with a touch of glam, so I have decided to use cool neutrals for color palette.
I picked "Silver Setting" from Dunn-Edwards Paints for the interior and painted all the walls in this color. The main reason why I did this is because when it comes to bright colors I want to be able to change them as often as I want to. I plan to bring in the color using artwork, vases, pillows and other accents that I can easily change if I want to.
For the living room, I want to use green and yellows as my main colors, purple for the master bedroom and aqua blue for the office.

When it came to flooring, I wanted something durable and easy to maintain.
I had hardwood and laminate floors in the past and they got scratched easily, so this time I wanted something different.
Initially I wanted stained cement, but the color options are limited. So we moved on and decided to pick a tile that has that contemporary vibe.
Online I have seen many gorgeous rooms that have black flooring and we found a gorgeous large 24"X24" porcelain polished tile.

Black Tile Contemporary Flooring -Unknown Source

While in pictures, black flooring looks gorgeous, it is NOT practical at all! You can see every little thing on it - even a drop of water can leave a stain and cleaning it is a painful, time consuming process. Also, the gloss layer applied on top scratches easily.
After we installed this tile in the kitchen, we started seeing all the problems with it and decided to remove it and start again.
The new tile we picked is a 12"X24" rectangular dark gray porcelain tile.
Since it has rectified edges, the grout line we used was 1/16".

Also, my favorite designer Candice Olson used a similar tile in many of her designs.

This tile will be installed in the entire house and in the bathrooms I plan to use mosaic glass tile for the walls.

I promise I will keep you updated on the progress and until then, I hope you will share with me your remodeling and decorating experience or plans.
